Why should we write out the Words of God?
I find what Jesus says in John 15 to be compelling:
“I am the true vine, and my Father is the vinedresser. Every branch in me that does not bear fruit he takes away, and every branch that does bear fruit he prunes, that it may bear more fruit.
Already you are clean because of the word that I have spoken to you. Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me. I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit,
for apart from me you can do nothing.
If anyone does not abide in me he is thrown away like a branch and withers; and the branches are gathered, thrown into the fire, and burned.
If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. By this my Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit and so prove to be my disciples.” John 15:1-8
Don’t get lost by the familiarity of the passage.
The fact is, as Believers we must spend time in His presence. Prayer is critical. Reading the Word is imperative. Do you want to bear fruit? You MUST abide with Him. Feel yourself withering away? You may not be dwelling in Him.
Writing out the Word of God daily is an effective way to abide in the Lord,
be ever-mindful of Him, and find ourselves fruitful.
The Abiding in Writing plan is not a 3 minute daily devotional type activity. We write, sometimes 5 verses, sometimes 30. We sometimes spend up to a half-hour writing out the Word, chunk by chunk, sometimes whole books in a month, sometimes verses related to topics like The Worth of Scripture, Prayer, and the Ministry of Jesus. By the end of a year, you will have written out no less than eight entire books from the Bible and countless topical collaborations that you can refer to in times to come. Each month is a new focus, but you can start at any time!
The intent, every day, is to dwell in Him, helping us to know our God; writing causes a repetition that sinks that knowledge of Him into our hearts and minds.

Pull out a spiral bound notebook, your favorite sketch book, or even a computer document saver, and start writing.
Start putting the Scriptures, which have been hand-written throughout the ages, into your OWN script. Soak in the words as you read, write, and double-check.
Abide in your God, as you re-write what He’s given.
Seek Him, abide in Him, dwell with Him.
